The Enemy

By Paul Stanley

The more I read the news the worse the world seems to get. People cannot even decide on which bathroom to use, they save dogs but abort babies, they sell their morals down the river to keep money in the state, they have become oblivious to what is right and what is wrong, and they cannot not even bring themselves to say to a five foot Caucasian male that if he identified as a six foot Asian woman that he is wrong (real example by the way!). They are so brainwashed by the enemy, and truth is so watered down that it often times makes me angry to the point I am tempted to say something or do something I would (probably) regret.

But this morning as I am reading about how Jesus teaches us to love our enemies. I came to the uncomfortable realization that being angry at the myriad of things going on around me only serves to harden my heart. And this is what Jesus is warning us about in the beatitudes. Me loving and praying for those who seem a million miles away from God and His will, or those who are causing me grief, may never change them, but it will change me! And that is what I should concern myself with. Allowing Jesus to change my heart day by day and person by person. The change of their heart has nothing to do with me. It is between them and Jesus.

God does not seem interested in judging me by what my opinion on a particular matter or a particular person might be, but he is interested in my heart in the matter. This is not saying that I am soft on these issues, nor do I in any way support them. But being angry at these people is not going to help because anger has a tendency to harden the heart and my goal is to keep my heart like Jesus kept His, who even after being beaten and mocked and nailed to a cross, prayed for His enemies.

Man, I have a long way to go. But I am working on it. How about you?

This truly speaks of why loving and praying for our enemies is commanded. Thank you do being so honest about it. I too have much to learn from God and I praise Him every morning for the opportunity to grow. Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world !
